Rep. Carbajal, U.S. House Vote to Establish Bipartisan Task Force to Investigate Assassination Attempt of Donald Trump

Congressman Salud Carbajal (CA-24) was part of a unanimous vote of the U.S. House of Representatives last night establishing a bipartisan task force to investigate the attempted assassination of former President of the United States Donald Trump on July 13.

“The attempt on Donald Trump's life earlier this month was an act of unacceptable political violence, and the American people deserve answers on why it happened and what steps are being taken to prevent future security lapses,” said Rep. Carbajal. “This task force will ensure accountability and produce Congress’ consensus recommendations to prevent future political violence.”

The Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump will consist of 11 members from both political parties in the House. The members are charged with investigating all actions taken by federal, state, and local law enforcement related to the event, as well as the perpetrator.

The task force, which was announced by the Speaker of the House and Democratic leader earlier this week, will be required to issue a report by the end of this year on its findings and any recommendations to prevent future security lapses.
