Carbajal Statement on Deadly Montecito Mudslides
Washington,
January 10, 2018
Montecito, CA – Today, Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24) issued the following statement in response to the deadly mudslides that claimed at least 15 lives and destroyed dozens of homes: “My heart breaks for our neighbors in Montecito. My thoughts and prayers are with those whose lives were lost and their loved ones, those recovering from injuries, as well as with those who are unable to return home. Rebuilding in the wake of two unprecedented tragedies will not be easy, but I have absolute faith that our community’s spirit of service, which we have already seen in such force after the Thomas Fire, will carry us through. I especially want to thank our first-responders still at the scene searching for and rescuing residents in difficult conditions. Our community is united in gratitude for your tireless work and remarkable cooperation to protect and save lives.” “As we begin to clear the debris and recover from this tragedy, I will continue to advocate for and provide federal support as long as it takes to recover. These are difficult times, but I am so proud of our community’s resiliency.” Carbajal will return to Santa Barbara today, ahead of the end of the legislative week. He will enter his intended votes into the official Congressional Record. ### |
