Rep. Salud Carbajal has announced that Planned Parenthood California Central Coast (PPCCC) President and CEO Dr. Jenna Tosh will be attending the State of the Union as his invited guest. Tosh has been on the forefront of advocating for health care on the Central Coast and for people across the nation. “As the president continues to ramp up attacks on health care and reproductive health access, I could think of no better guest than Dr. Tosh—a health champion in our community and a strong voice for justice,” said Rep. Carbajal. “Dr. Tosh is an organizer, a leader, and an experienced fighter in our efforts to defend and expand health care for all people. I am honored to have her join me at the State of the Union.” “I’m proud to attend the State of the Union with my Congressman, Salud Carbajal, because reproductive health care is health care, and health care is a human right,” said Dr. Jenna Tosh, president and CEO, Planned Parenthood California Central Coast. “Planned Parenthood will never stop fighting for a world in which all people have access to the care they need. And we know that the American people are with us.” Since February 2015, Tosh has led PPCCC in the work to implement evidence-based reproductive rights programs, expand sexual health services and incorporate gender-affirming care into its many services. PPCCC provides services—including birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing, wellness exams and more—to over 31,500 Central Coast residents each year. Prior, Tosh was the chair of the Planned Parenthood California Education Fund, an organization that has advanced some of the most pro-reproductive health policies in the country. This year’s State of the Union is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, at 9:00 p.m. EST. Each member of Congress is allowed one guest at this annual address. |
