Rep. Carbajal Statement on Partial Government Shutdown
Washington,
December 21, 2018
Today, Representative Salud Carbajal (CA-24) released the following statement ahead of a possible partial government shutdown tonight at midnight: “Earlier this week, the Senate passed a bipartisan spending bill, following an agreement with President Trump, which funded the government through February. Instead of bringing the Senate’s clean spending bill to a vote, lame duck House Republicans conspired with the President to add $5.7 billion in wasteful spending for an ineffective border wall leading us straight toward a partial government shutdown. “The President’s senseless border wall is nothing more than an archaic solution to a 21st century problem and fails to meet our security needs at the border. I voted against funding for the wall and remain hopeful that Congress and the President can work together on a bipartisan basis to bring forward a clean spending bill to fund the government responsibly before tonight’s shutdown.” |
