Santa Barbara, CA – Representative Salud Carbajal (CA-24) issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s Joint Address to Congress: “In tonight's Joint Address, President Biden delivered a unifying, bipartisan message and outlined his vision for the future. I appreciated the fact that he appealed to all of us – not as Democrats and Republicans, but as Americans working together for the betterment of our country. “Under President Biden's leadership, we have made immense progress in tackling the COVID-19 crisis. We have administered 220 million vaccines, delivered millions of stimulus checks, and provided relief to families, children, and businesses. Today, I am grateful there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The next stage of our recovery involves transformational investments in our infrastructure and in American families, which will create good-paying jobs and allow us to compete on the global stage. “The progress we have made is in no small part due to the dedicated and steadfast leadership of our local public health officials, who have worked tirelessly to ensure our communities stay safe and healthy. I am so proud to have two local heroes as my guests to President Biden's Joint Session to Congress. Dr. Penny Borenstein and Dr. Van Do-Reynoso's leadership have led their respective counties through this pandemic and we owe them our immense gratitude. I thank them both for their service to our communities and this nation. “I remain committed to working with all of my colleagues, regardless of party, to ensure the next 100 days are as historic as the first.” ### |
