Carbajal Prioritizes Transportation and Infrastructure in SLO County

Carbajal meets with Caltrans, SLOCOG and CHP to discuss Highway 46

This week, Rep. Salud Carbajal hosted two events to speak with constituents and experts across San Luis Obispo County about the region’s various infrastructure needs. Carbajal vowed to continue his work in Congress to ensure that Central Coast infrastructure priorities are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

“There is a clear need for improved infrastructure across our district and nation. Strong, secure roads and bridges aren’t just smart policy—they’re quite literally a matter of life and death,” said Rep. Carbajal. “That’s why I continue to prioritize meeting with local and federal transportation experts, and why I’m fighting for real investments as the vice chair of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in the House. This is a bipartisan issue that we can tackle head-on, and I’m proud that our region is putting in the work to ensure our Central Coast infrastructure is safe, stable and sustainable.”

On Monday, Carbajal hosted an infrastructure roundtable to discuss infrastructure priorities with local chambers of commerce, city and county public works officials, the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG), and other stakeholders. On Wednesday, he visited the Cholame Highway 46 “Y” to meet with the California Department of Transportation, SLOCOG and California Highway Patrol about the pressing need for increased safety measures on the deadly stretch of road, often known as “Blood Alley.”
