Hundreds of people filled El Chorro Regional Park in San Luis Obispo Saturday to celebrate Earth Day.

It was the 27th Annual San Luis Obispo County Earth Day Fair. The event included March for Science activities, a green car show, eco-marketplace, and kid's zone.

"Hopefully all the children and all the adults realize this is a day of celebrating the earth," said Sandra Marshall, the director of Earth Day Alliance. "We have music and fun, but there is a lot of work to do."

Representative Salud Carbajal spoke at the events.

"It is great to see such a turnout in participation by the community, " said Carbajal. "Concern about the earth, concern about our environment, and the need to continue to advocate for strong policies that protect our water, our air, ou environment, and our public health."

Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 and created by Gaylord Nelson, a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin.
