As the Representative for the Central Coast, I want to ensure that your federal government invests in the policies and programs that help our communities, state, and nation move forward. That’s why it’s important I hear directly from you about what our federal budget should prioritize.
Community Project Funding Requests - FY 2025
More information will be announced on these requests at a later date.
Previous Community Project Funding Requests
Informed by the bipartisan Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress, in FY 2022 the House Appropriations Committee announced a new Community Project Funding initiative to allow Members of Congress to target federal funds towards projects and programs that will address the most significant needs facing the communities they represent. Only state, local, and tribal governments; publicly owned entities (e.g. ports, universities, PUDs, etc.); and certain non-profit entities with a quasi-government purpose (e.g. Special Districts) were eligible to request Community Project Funding.
In Fiscal Year 2022, Congressman Carbajal submitted 10 community projects for funding, nine of which were funded through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022. Those projects can be found here.
For FY 2023, the House Appropriations Committee again utilized a Community Project Funding initiative to allow Members of Congress to target federal funds towards projects and programs that will address the most significant needs facing the communities they represent. Under guidelines issued by the Appropriations Committee, each Representative couldrequest funding for up to 15 projects in their community for FY 2023.
In the interest of transparency and accountability, all Members are required to post all Community Project Funding requests submitted to the committee on their website.
In Fiscal Year 2023, Congressman Carbajal submitted 15 community projects for funding, 14 of which were funded through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023. Those projects can be found here.
For Fiscal Year 2024, Congressman Carbajal submitted 15 community projects for funding, pending the finalization of full year appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2024. More information on those projects submitted for approval can be found here.
